We are pleased to present our 2009 Alumni Award Recipients:
 | Poh Lam Tan Alumni Honour Award Poh Lam Tan is the founder and CEO of Alliance Entertainment Asia (AEA). Poh Lam started his company in 2000 after realizing that Singapore's home video market wasn't being fully tapped into. AEA distributes videos for companies such as Warner Bros, MGM, and 20th Century Fox and it also operates a chain of Video Ezy movie sale and rental outlets. It is Poh Lam Tan's combination of an entrepreneurial spirit with a deep commitment to treating people with fairness that has made him such a respected figure in the business world. His ability to see potential in overlooked areas has brought success to his business ventures and transformed him into a major force in the Asian entertainment industry. Read more |
 | Terry Robinson Young Alumni Award Terry Robinson has always had big dreams and the perseverance to realize them. Terry competed in electric wheelchair slalom, boccia, and other field events at championships around the world, and he won track and field bronze medals in the 1988 and 1992 Paralympics. His athletic accomplishments were recognized in 2008 when he was inducted into the Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame. Terry now works for the Ministry of Government Services where he serves as an Assistant Human Resources Consultant. Terry Robinson's optimism, selflessness, and dedication to improving the lives of others have made him a role model and a force to be reckoned with. Read more |
 | Thomas Ryan Alumni Honour Award The capacity to do many different things well has made Dr. Thomas Ryan a leading educational theorist. In 2002, Thom accepted a position at the University of Nipissing in North Bay where he is now an Associate Professor in the physical and health education program. His desire to instill teaching excellence and facilitate professional development led him to publish three books: The Reflexive Classroom Manager, The Reflexive Physical Educator, and The Reflexive Special Educator. Thom has contributed chapters to books such as Passing the Test: A Book of Readings on Provincial, National, and International Testing in Canadian Public Schools; he is also the lead author of Canadian Educational Leadership. He has an impressive list of articles that have appeared in national and international journals such as the New Zealand Journal of Teachers' Work. Read more |
