Patricia McGuire, Professor and Writer
Patricia is Anishinaabe and is affiliated with Bingwii Neyaashi Anishinaabe but was raised as Métis in MacDiarmid, Ontario. She completed her Master of Arts Degree in Sociology at Lakehead University in 2003. Currently, she is writing her dissertation for her PhD in Sociology. A consistent theme throughout her work has been the creation of respectful frameworks for the inclusion of Anishinaabe knowledge(s) in broader academic, social and political contexts.
Alice Sabourin, Sole Proprietor, Beedaubin Arts
Alice holds a Masters Degree in Social work (1997) and has worked as a community arts facilitator merging contemporary art practices of photography and visual art with traditional forms of community healing. As the sole proprietor of Beedaubin Arts which aims to recognize and build on cultural strengths including the land, and the people and the community. She draws from her Thesis research to help build vibrant community experiences.
Donna Simon, Youth Initiatives Coordinator
Donna graduated with her HBSW (2006) and is currently employed at Nishnawbe Aski Nation as the Youth Initiatives Coordinator. She is an Ojibway/Odawa Woman with roots at Wikwemikong First Nation. Donna was born and raised in Wawa, Ontario and has a very supportive family. She loves to sing, travel, watch hockey, sit buy a fireside and loves to be of service to her people.
