 | Michael Nitz; BADM 2004 Branch Manager Royal Bank of Canada Thunder Bay, ON Originally from Scarborough, Michael Nitz relocated to Thunder Bay to attend Lakehead University on the basis of high praise the Kinesiology program received from friends who are alumni of the program. After some time in the program, Michael realized his skills were better suited to the corporate world and transferred to the Business program. Upon graduation, while many graduates look elsewhere on the map for career opportunities, Michael understood the importance of retaining Lakehead graduates in the North and chose to stay in Northwestern Ontario. After a very successful year with a local Financial Institution, Michael was offered a Branch Manager opportunity with RBC in Nipigon and Geraldton. An active member of each community he has lived in, Michael has held seats on more than a dozen different boards and committees, including his primary role as President of a regional Chamber of Commerce. For his efforts, the community of Nipigon recognized him with a Lakehead Fellowship nomination in 2006. Although unsuccessful, he was very honoured to be nominated and recognized that his achievements to date were due, in part, to the excellent experience he received while at Lakehead. |
