On Tuesday, August 10th, the 27th Annual RBC Alumni Scholarship Classic was held at beautiful Whitewater golf club. This major fundraising event, which supports student scholarships, received amazing support from the Thunder Bay business community and raised $35,000 – the most funds ever resulted from the golf tournament. The tournament was filled to capacity, illustrating how passionate local residents are about giving back and helping Lakehead University foster student success.
A rainy morning cleared into a hot, sunny day of golf for the 36 teams that participated, beginning with a delicious patio lunch and ending with a wonderful sit-down dinner in the Whitewater Clubhouse. Various draws and the largest silent auction to-date ran throughout the day and evening, and prizes were also awarded for course contests, such as the longest drive and a putting contest.
The Office of Alumni Relations, the Alumni Association, and the Golf Committee would like to extend sincere thanks and gratitude to all sponsors, donors, volunteers, and participants who made this year’s tournament possible. Without the amazing community support we receive, our events would not be possible. Your efforts are truly appreciated and we eagerly look ahead to the 2011 Scholarship Classic – hope to see you there!
