Lakehead Reunion
On September 15th, 2011, the Alumni Relations Office held a very successful Southern Ontario Reunion at The Steam Whistle Brewery. We were pleased to meet our alumni and to hear their stories about life after graduation. Approximately 200 people from the Greater Toronto Area attended the event. Since 1965, we have seen over 48,000 students graduate and by taking the time to attend events like this reunion, alumni show their support and appreciation for Lakehead University.
The evening was informal, fun, and engaging. President Dr. Brian Stevenson was in attendance and addressed alumni. Manager of Alumni Relations, Richard Longtin also greeted and said a speech. Current Alumni Board member, Rob Jamieson also reminisced and took to the microphone stand to speak about his Lakehead experience.
The relaxed itinerary allowed everyone to mix and mingle. Shopsy’s catering treated guests to delicious appetizers, desserts and tasty libations were also available. We were able to pack a few essential reunion items: a slide-show of photos showing past alumni events (e.g. Curling bonspeils, barbeques, golf tournaments, open houses, coffee breaks, Awards Dinners etc.). Additionally, we brought our photo archive display and NorWester yearbooks for viewing. Alumni and friends were able to view our merchandise, degree frames and more in our catalogue.
It was a great celebration and way to show our growing alumni network, living and working in the GTA. Many alumni took the time to fill-out a fun questionnaire and entered our prize draw for Alumni merchandise. A great reunion means new memories to look back on and our wonderful event photographer William “Zaiden” Chrysler, captured many moments from the evening.
