Brian Holm (BSc ’74; BAdmin ’97) passed away in Thunder Bay this past March at the age of 61. A lifelong learner who believed strongly in the value of education, Brian continued to support his alma mater long after graduation.

Robert Reukl has been a long-standing supporter of Lakehead University. Throughout the years, he has given his time generously as well as financially supported the Geology department and Alumni Association. As a geology graduate of Lakehead University, he has been employed as a geologist in the mineral exploration and mining business for over 25 years.

This past June, Mike Snoddon and Neva Bassingthwaite, Lakehead University Student Union (LUSU) president and vice president – student issues, spent five days building a house for a Guatemalan family. They returned home from their trip with a better understanding of the hardships many people confront every day.

On September 15th, 2011, the Alumni Relations Office held a very successful Southern Ontario Reunion at The Steam Whistle Brewery. We were pleased to meet our alumni and to hear their stories about life after graduation. Approximately 120 people from the Greater Toronto Area attended the event. Since 1965, we have seen over 48,000 students graduate and by taking the time to attend events like this reunion, alumni show their support and appreciation for Lakehead University.
