On June 9, 2011, a SHIFT networking event took place at the Avila Centre. SHIFT (formerly the Thunder Bay Young Professionals Network) is Thunder Bay’s home for young-minded professionals who wish to cultivate social and professional networks and engage themselves in the community. The Lakehead Alumni Association sponsored this BBQ which had about 60 people attended and everyone mingled while enjoying the warm weather and food.
This event was a great opportunity for young professionals to come together, meet new people and share ideas. The evening featured presentations and a session involving the new Multiplex building to be constructed in Thunder Bay. Richard Longtin, Manager and Amanda Bahlieda, Alumni Assistant were both in attendance to represent the Alumni Relations Office. Tickets were only $5, and all proceeds from this event were donated to a bursary/scholarship for Lakehead University. This is a great example of the Alumni Association engaging with the broader community. We’d like to thank everyone who attended and look forward to being part of more networking events.
