Calling all alumni in the Ottawa and Simcoe County regions! We are currently in the process of introducing new Alumni Chapters for these areas and are seeking Lakehead University alumni of all ages and backgrounds to participate and engage with their alma mater.
The Lakehead University Alumni Association will officially launch the Simcoe County Alumni Chapter on August 18th, with a two - hour evening boat cruise on Lake Couchiching from 7:00 to 9:00PM. Enjoy the beautiful scenery of the area while catching up with old friends from university, or take the opportunity to meet new alumni like yourself. All Lakehead University alumni within Simcoe County and the surrounding region, including spouses and friends, are invited to take part in this exciting event, so please spread the word to other Lakehead graduates! Guests are asked to meet at the boat launch at 220 Mississauga St. East in Orillia. This event is free of charge (there will be a cash bar onboard for those who wish to purchase drinks).Additional events are also being planned and will be announced during the kickoff event.
An official Alumni Chapter is recognized by the university as part of the Alumni Association of Lakehead University, encouraging a mutually beneficial partnership. Chapters play an important role in serving the alumni community, as they:
- Provide opportunities for alumni to socialize, learn, and network
- Help alumni retain their connection to their alma mater by keeping them informed aboutmajor events at Lakehead and/or by simply providing the opportunity for alumni to share memories of their years at the university
- Organize fun-filled events and activities for alumni to enjoy in their community
- Provide alumni with the means to serve their alma mater in a meaningful way
