Stacey grew up in Kaministiquia, Ontario and spent the first years of her life growing up in the beautiful outskirts of the city participating in various outdoor activities.  After graduating high school, she took a few years off to work full-time at a local veterinary clinic, but always had the passion to further her learning.

She enrolled in the Honours Bachelor of Commerce Program at Lakehead University and graduated in the class of 2001 with Honours, majoring in Marketing Management, and a minor degree in Human Resources.  It was in Stacey's last year, when she began looking for job opportunities to transition into the working world, which, as luck would have it, was the same time the Board of Directors for Thunderwolves Hockey Inc. were looking to hire a Corporate Sales & Marketing Manager.  Stacey was successful in landing the job and had a fantastic career with the Thunderwolves Hockey team.  For the next five years, Stacey worked closely with the Board of Directors, Lakehead and the community to build a prosperous donor and sponsorship base, which is still thriving ten years later!  "This job was an amazing and unique opportunity, which allowed me to build on the skills and education I received from Lakehead", comments Stacey.

After leaving her position with the Thunderwolves, Stacey moved to Toronto where she worked for Wiley Publishing as a Corporate Sales Manager and travelled the country working with large-scale clients.  Two years later, she found her "Mr. Right" who resided in Orangeville, Ontario; Stacey decided to make the move to Orangeville to start a family.  A year later, Stacey won the "commuter's lottery" and accepted a dream job only ten minutes away from home, working as the Manager of Development & Community Relations with Family Transition Place –  a not-for-profit agency that supports abused women and children

"It's very rewarding to work for a fantastic organization with great leadership.  Although it's hard to believe, it's really the exact same type of job as working with the Thunderwolves, only with a much different spin.  Everyday I learn something new, including the valuable lesson that came from an eight-year-old boy who donated his $1.25 tooth-fairy money, because he felt that we (the woman's shelter), really needed it.  I am in a very happy place right now”, says Stacey.  I am married to a fabulous husband, I have inherited two beautiful stepdaughters, and now our family is complete with our son, Jett, who is turning two in November."   In addition to working full-time, Stacey also runs a small business, Embrace Photography www.embracephotography.ca/blog and has many clients both in Orangeville and in Thunder Bay.  She travels back home to Thunder Bay quite frequently.

“I am grateful to my professors for the quality of education I received at Lakehead, as it truly gave me a solid professional foundation, teaching me to always believe in myself”.
